The Cranstal affix
has been registered with the Kennel Club since 1981 - during which time we
have bred four litters of salukis.
The first in 1984
produced Ch. Cranstal Chaos and Ch. Cranstal Chance. Our second litter in
1992 produced Cranstal Enigma (1CC + BOB and 4 Rcc) and Ch. Cranstal Enchantment;
who is the dam of Champion Cranstal Incandescence - a stunning cream who
has had a very successful show career.
The puppies from our fourth litter - born during the summer of 2003 out of
Ch. Cranstal Incandescence started their show careers very well. Their successes
making Ch. Cranstal Incandescence the SGHC Top Brood Bitch for 2004/05, their
sire Kasaque Jimna Sh. CM Iams Top Stud Dog 2004 and their brother Cranstal
Quest Masterfoods/Our Dogs Top Saluki Puppy 2004. Subsequently four of them
have won CC's as two year olds and Ch. Cranstal Quantum made up 6 days after
his 3rd Birthday - winning Hound Group 4 in the process.
As we have only ever bred to perpetuate Cranstal bloodlines - puppies have
only very occasionally been available over the last 20 years. As you can see
from the above - on average about once every five years! Total Cranstal Saluki
puppies registered to date have totalled 20 - these have produced 5 Champions,
4 CC winners and 1 RCC winner to date.
Lending an International flavour to the Cranstal kennel Ch. Cranstal Quantum's
son Hisilome's I am Iceman med Cranstal has recently joined our saluki household.
Bred in Sweden by Mary-Ann Axelsson - out of her lovely cream bitch NUCH. SUCH.
SVCH. Hisilome's Dilba - Flash is typical of both his Hisilome's and Cranstal
bloodlines. Paul and I are in agreement with Mary-Ann that this is a very satisfactory
outcome of her breeding programme and we look forward to Flash making his debut
in the UK show ring during May 2009.
We hope that you enjoy
your visit to the home of Cranstal salukis and that you will return from
time to time to view our Photo Shoot section. This will
be updated periodically with photos from assorted contributors. You may rest
assured that they don’t come much more assorted than Paul and myself
- but we do have some very accomplished photographer relatives and friends.
We use their services shamelessly! We must give especial credit and thanks
to my brother Kevin Walker-Smith whose photographs are used extensively throughout
this website under the credit 'Manx Image Banx' - he is also responsible for
the artwork in all the adverts that we place in the specialist saluki magazines.
